Taking the next

STEP

Even baby steps matter...

Step 1

Determine what you want (need) to change...

What do you want to change first?  What keeps you up at night?  What makes your heart hurt?  Is it your appearance, your health, your relationships with loved ones?  Or do you need a closer walk with God?  Only you can decide where and when you want to start.  No one can make that decision for you, but we are here to help.  With me, I want to be healthier.  I want, no I need to get off insulin.  I desire to stop taking blood pressure meds.  I can't wait until joint and back pain are no longer a part of my life.  And where does it all start...with me deciding to do it God's way...to walk in the good health that He says is mine.  But, that calls for some changes.  Maybe if I share my plan with you, this will help you with your next step.

Step 2

Set realistic goals that you can stick with

We all have a pace that is perfect just for us...the key is not to quit.  If becoming the us that God intended for us to be was easy, everyone would be doing it.  It's not easy to change, but remember, Rome wasn't built in a day.  The Lord had an excellent idea in Habakkuk 2:2.  And the LORD answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.

My sister,Karen, once gave me a wonderful idea...make a vision board.  A vision board will keep your goals front and center...in other words, in your face.  It makes what you want to accomplish real.  Click here for a picture of a sample vision board.

Step 3

Work every day on YOU

Your system will be resistant to change.  It will not want to give up that gooey chocolate that you love...it will not get on board with exercise (not right out of the gate)...it will not want to study the Word regularly (if this is new)...it will not want to eat the right stuff for a healthy you...it will not want to stop drinking and smoking... you get the idea.  You are going to have to make the hard choices AND STICK TO THEM.  You will have to pray for wisdom and guidance, remembering that God is on your side and He wants you to succeed..

Step 4

Put words of encouragement in strategic places

We tend to believe what we see on a regular basis.  With this in mind, keep the Word in your face so that you can believe what the Word says and not what you see, think and hear.  Put scriptures that you want to define who you are on the wall above your computer or work station, on the mirror in the bathroom, on the refrigerator, on the sun visor in your car...put them all over the place. Feast on good sermons and messages.  We will always showcase good messages on this site.   You can find wonderful scriptures that you can print and cut out on our tool page.

Surround yourself with people who think like you desire to think...positive and not negative!  People who can encourage you to reach higher goals!
